Yarilo

Yarilo is the ancient Slavic deity of springtime, fertility, and burgeoning life, but also of war and youthful vigor. He is often depicted as a young man riding a white horse, bringing the warmth of the sun back to the earth. In this vision, the cyclical nature of life is emphasized: Yarilo marks the end of winter by physically claiming the severed head of the "Old Year," clearing the path for new growth through this violent ritual of succession.

Jaryło to starosłowiańskie bóstwo wiosny, płodności i budzącego się życia, ale także wojny i młodzieńczej siły. Często przedstawiany jako młodzieniec na białym koniu, sprowadzający ciepło słońca z powrotem na ziemię. W tej wizji podkreślony zostaje cykliczny charakter życia: Jaryło wyznacza koniec zimy, dzierżąc odciętą głowę „Starego Roku” i torując drogę dla nowego wzrostu poprzez ten brutalny rytuał sukcesji.
